The 2 ideas for a thanksgiving tradition are:
Get a white table cloth, each person writes what they’re thankful for on it. So it would be fun to pull it out every thanksgiving and read what has been written.
Or
Start a book of thanks. Each year, everybody writes what they’re thankful for in the book and then take a picture of everyone together, and put it in the book.

You won't believe this!

Bryan had an appointment on Thursday to check his platelets and they went up to 94!!!!!!! So the IVIG really helped! He’ll go back in about 3 weeks to get checked again. Let’s hope they keep going up!

You know what's weird though? His white blood cell count dropped to 2. Last week it was up to 3. But we're all sick with colds right now EXCEPT Bryan. We've all been sick for a few days and he hasn't been at all. It's a good thing he doesn't have it, but I just thought it was weird.

Proud Baseball Mom

Bryan had a baseball game on Friday night and it was awesome!! I’m so proud of him! They did soo much better than their first game. Bryan got to bat 3 times! And he got to play short stop the whole game, which is the position he wanted. He scored the first point for the team and they won 12-5. It was a really good game, I wish Derek could have been there, but he had to work. Uncle Matt, Grandpa Pete, and Steve were there though.

He just caught the ball and he's about to throw it.

Baseball

Bryan’s first baseball game was last night. He did really good and he had a lot of fun!!

Good news!

Bryan had his IVIg yesterday. They did a CBC first and found out that his platelets went down to 3. Then they started the treatment. They gave him 3 doses of the IVIg and it took about 6 hours. They gave him Benadryl and Tylenol before they started to prevent him from getting sick and it seemed to work pretty well. He threw up just a little last night and he got a headache right before bed. Much better than last time!

Today, they went in to get his platelets checked and found out that they went up to 44!! So they decided not to give him anymore IVIg treatment and she said that he was fine to go back to school.

Derek took him to school just a few minutes late and then 30 minutes later the nurse called me and said that she had Bryan there complaining of a headache. So I went over and gave him some Tylenol. I told her that the doctor said he may still have some side effects today. Then around 11, she called again because he was throwing up. Derek picked him up and he came home and slept. He didn’t want to eat or anything.

He’s doing ok now. He says his head still hurts, but otherwise he feels fine. He went to baseball practice tonight and didn’t have any problems!

Last October when he had the IVIg, his platelets were at 2 and after 2 doses, they went up to 30. Then within a week they dropped back down to 15 I think. We’re hoping that they continue to go up, but we’re still going to talk to her next week about treating him with something else before it gets that low again!

Yikes!

At Bryan’s appointment last week, his doctor said that if he has any bleeding or if he gets a lot more bruises to call her. He’s had several bloody noses, gotten a few new bruises, and on Saturday he started getting petechiae, which are those little red spots that mean he’s bleeding under his skin. He has it on his back, chest, neck, face, legs, and one of his ankles.

So Derek called his doctor this morning and they told him to come in. They checked his platelets and they went down to 4! I can’t believe it! Last Tuesday they were at 27! So anyways, they’re going to treat him with an IVIg which is the same thing he was treated with last October when he was in the hospital. I’m not excited about this treatment, but I guess it’s better than nothing. I hope he doesn’t get sick and I hope it works better than last time!

They’ll do the treatment at the doctors office, it will take several hours and then he’ll go home. The next morning, he’ll go back to check his platelets. If they haven’t gone up as much as they want, they’ll give him a second dose of the IVIg.

I’ll post an update on Thursday after we find out how the treatment worked.

ITP Awareness Month and an update on Bryan

September is ITP Awareness month and September 28th is Sport Purple for Platelets day so everybody wear purple that day!! My blog is all purple now so we’re showing our support for people with ITP!! I wanna get a purple ribbon to put on my van too!

Anyways, Bryan had a doctor’s appointment yesterday. His platelets went down to 27. Two weeks ago when he had his bone marrow done, they were down to 35.

All of the results are back from the bone marrow and everything came back negative. So the only blood disorder that Bryan has is ITP. They don’t really have any explanation for why his white blood cells are low. She said that they’ll treat his ITP if his count gets really low again, probably below 10.

We signed him up to play baseball so he’ll just have to be really careful since his platelets are getting pretty low again. His next appointment is in a month and we’ll see where his counts are at then.

Girly girl

Malaya is such a girl! Yesterday when we got home from church, I found her in my bathroom playing in my makeup. Can you see it on her face?

It was all over her dress too so I changed her clothes and then got things ready for dinner. A few minutes later she walked in the room with my shoes on.

Surprisingly, she stood there and smiled for me!
