5 years

Derek and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary last Thursday. His mom came over and babysat for us and we thought it would be fun to go to the strip since we’ve never gone there together. First we went out to eat at PF Changs at Planet Hollywood. Instead of ordering my favorite meal, Derek talked me into trying something different because they had a special menu with soup, appetizer, meal, and dessert for 2 people. The soup was good, we got ribs for our appetizer and they were really good! Then for our meals we got Mongolian beef and kung pao chicken. The kung pao chicken wasn’t what I thought it was and it was really gross. Then we had mini cheesecakes for dessert.
After dinner, we walked around the Miracle Mile Shops. I got 2 new shirts, but Derek didn’t get anything.
When we were done shopping, we walked across the street to the Bellagio to watch the fountains. We stayed for 2 songs and then walked all the way down to the New York New York. We rode the roller coaster which wasn’t nearly as much fun as I remember from when I was 18. Then we walked all the way back to Planet Hollywood where our car was parked. On our way home, we stopped at McDonalds for ice cream cones and fries!! We tried to take a picture of ourselves at the fountains. I know it’s terrible, but it was starting to get dark out and it was on Derek’s phone so no flash.

The race

Bryan had his pinewood derby on Saturday. He’s been so excited about it!! He ended up winning first place in the wolf group and he won second place for “best of show”. Our camera died as soon as we got there, but luckily Derek’s mom had hers so here are a few pictures she took!!

Dad and steve came over yesterday morning for breakfast and then they went swimming with the kids.

Malaya's been too scraed to go in the pool but she finally did and she loved it!!

Bryan was blowing water on Malaya from the noodle. She didn't like that at all!

Chet chewed up Jesse's floatie so he had to use the pink one. I love his tongue sticking out in this one.

Jesse wanted to try with just the floaties on his arm and he did sooo well!! He can touch the bottom of the pool with his feet just perfectly! And he was really good about keeping his mouth closed so he wouldn't swallow any water.

Platelet update

Bryan’s platelet count went down to 49,000. :(

On a happier note, look at him do a flip in the pool!

The Park

We have a fun little park just down the street from our house that we walk to pretty often. It has a playground, a splash pad, and a grass area. I never bring my camera but I actually did yesterdaY so here are a few pictures.

slip n slide

Derek got the kids a new slip n slide that was on clearance at walgreens. They were really excited about it because it was a shark slip n slide. So they waited on a blanket while Derek got it all set up for them.



The shark slip n slide came with 3D googles to make it look like you were going into the sharks mouth. But Bryan wanted to wear his new ones instead.



Jesse thought the 3D goggles were pretty cool!!

Malaya is still a little scraed of water but she had fun splashing her hands in it and filling up a water bottle.

Pinewood derby car

Bryan has district wide pinewood derby coming up on July 28th. He’s really excited about it because his car is sooooo much better this time! Now that we know how to do it. Bryan picked one of his trucks to try to recreate and they did a pretty good job!! He helped Derek pick out the color of paint that they used and he got to use Derek’s paint gun to help paint it too. When Jesse and Malaya saw that, they wanted to help too. I don’t have a picture of the finished car because they had to turn it in last week, but I’ll get some pictures on the day of the race!! When they dropped the car off, the lady that was accepting the cars said it was one of the nicest paint jobs she had ever seen!

Hand me downs

Tyler is getting so big and he's starting to fit into 18 month size clothes!! Can you believe that??! So I had to put him in Bryan's rusty wallace onesie and the next day he wore our family reunion shirt that Malaya wore last summer. As soon as I got him dressed, Bryan just had to change his shirt so he could match his little brother.

Our new house

I took some pictures of the house this morning because I love it so much and I wanted to show it off. This is the living room. I’ve been wanting a sectional for a looong time and we finally got one! (Thanks to some help from Derek’s mom!!) We also got a new tv stand because our cheap little one broke when they were loading it into the moving truck. The other half of this room is supposed to be a formal dining room so it looks kind of empty over there. I don’t know what to fill it with. That box in the corner is pictures that need to be hung, but I’m going to update them first. This first picture is looking into the living room from the entry way and the second one is sitting on the couch.
